About Me

Suparna

Hi there!

I am Suparna Chakravarti, a visual artist based out of Mumbai, India.

Here's a gist of my educational background, it is a mix of a lot of varied interests and what I these days call 'a love for learning'.

I believe we humans have our complexities and just as I am learning to comprehend and hold space for it, you can too:

It began with an interest in 'Interiors' which led me to pursue and complete my Bachelor's in Architecture (from I.E.S College of Architecture in 2014). Thereafter, after a few years of watching 'Masterchef Australia' and wanting to try my hand at baking, I completed a Diploma in Patisserie & Confectionery (from ITM Institute of Hotel Management). And lastly, a random visit to an 'Art Walk Lane' got me back to my love for the arts, which I explored through the BTEC Higher National Diploma Certificate course in Fine Art (from F.A.D International)

I took up art as my profession thereafter in 2017 and have been creating ever since!

I am passionate about understanding and highlighting the interconnectedness of the world around me. My works have been an exploration of this interest ranging from cultivating an awareness of the environment and animals to the importance of mental-emotional health and the need for conscious growth. In wanting to advocate for, as well as learn how the 'arts' can serve as a powerful tool and language that can support change, I recently completed my Post-graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy (from St.Xaviers College, in 2022)

I have previously worked on a small mural project, and custom wedding invites, and run an online shop where I sell my paintings and merchandise like calendars. Feel free to explore the Works section (Click Here)

About Su.Tales

There is always a story or thought behind the works of art we create.

Su.Tales began as a page to express myself through my work

and grow as an artist on Instagram.

We're all constantly evolving, and in doing so, the spaces we live in also transform,

which includes the online spaces as well. Keeping that in mind, the page transitioned into sharing from a space of self-reflection back in 2019, and is now transitioning into a product account offering a limited range of artistic creative services.

on choosing the particular handle :

By definition, a tale is basically a fictitious or true narrative or story. I constantly found myself seeking out stories, as a way to make sense of and understand better my life experiences. Through these stories, I found a way to start moving forward, and so Su (short for Suparna). Tales was just the lens through which I was learning to see it all. Stories as a means to connect with that which lies within us. It is now one that is meant to serve as a way to craft stories and works of art, brought together through the magic and beauty of visuals.

A note on Suparna.Chakravarti

The 'arts' the way I've come to understand them as I continue to learn, as tools for self-expression, reflection and connection are not about aesthetics, perfection or end products, but rather the process and experience of it. The more I engage, the more I become aware of aspects of my identity, the parts of me that remain unacknowledged in some way, as well as all of the experiences that shape who I am and the ways I relate. All that is shared on this account is a glimpse, a collection of personal moments, reflections and art. It is my hope that it reminds you to embrace all parts of you, the beauty and the mess, little by little.

I hope you find all that you're looking for!

Thank you for being a part of this journey!

Let's keep growing

Thank you !
