' The Social Space ' was a hostel located in the neighbourhood of Four Bungalows, Andheri (Mumbai). A budget-friendly accomodation to make the experience fun and comfortable, while one was in the city for a short stay. The hostel is now closed.

Brief, Idea and Process:

The hostel was re-located in 2019 to another space within the same vicinity.

Done in collaboration with fellow artist Anisha Shetty, this mural was commissioned for a wall in the reception area of ' The Social Space '.

The main idea behind this mural was to highlight and guide people to all that they could explore during their stay.

There is a lot that makes this city what it truly is!

Keeping in mind the popularity certain elements from the original mural were modified to make space for the more relevant ones.

Below is a list of the elements we narrowed it down to that capture the essence of this city, and the typical catch phrases & lingo associated with it :

Bombay burger a.k.a ' Vada Pav'
A refreshing cup of 'Cutting Chai'
The 'Chaat Waala' with the chaats and masala puri
'Paan Wala' with his 'Meetha Paan' to end on a sweet note
The famous ' Dabbawalas' who constitute a lunch box delivery and return system that delivers hot lunches daily without fail
Historic landmarks like 'The Gateway of India', 'The Taj Mahal Hotel popularly known as the Taj', 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus formerly known as VIctoria Terminus', 'Dhobi Ghat, Mumbai's 140 year old open air laundromat'
Religious and spaces of spiritual importance like 'The Siddhivinayak Temple' , 'Haji Ali Dargah', 'Global Vipassana Pagoda' to experience the divine.
'Colaba Causeway' to indulge in some street shopping
A walk along the 'Queen's Necklace' to relax and enjoy some scenic views of the city
'The Sea link' to breeze through without having to sit through a traffic jam.
'Autorickshaws' to zip through the city
'Trains' and the 'B.E.S.T bus' for time saving and economical commute while also to giving you a taste of the hustle-bustle.
